Mischa Barton has ended the year on a sour note, after being arrested for drink driving and also driving without a valid driver's licence. She joins the ranks of starlets living on the not-so-comfortable edge, like Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie (though they seem to be getting back on track), Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. This is one club all the smart girls are certainly not lining up to join!

While we might admire Mischa's fashion stylings and love watching her on repeats of The O.C. or in any of her fab movies, it's obvious that although her life might look seemingly picture perfect, it's clearly not all fun and games and shopping sprees, and there's some serious issues going on.

It's such a shame because many of these young women like Mischa have so much going for them, and it sucks to see them wasting their precious time and opportunities in this way. Not to mention how downright dangerous it is, to both yourself and others, to drink and drive.

All we can do is hope that ladies like Mischa, and any other girls out there who might be struggling, or who feel lost and are looking for answers in the wrong places (alcohol and drugs never help any situation, in fact they often make things worse), can get the support they need from those around them and have a much happier and healthier year in 2008!
