Healthy Snacking

What's your snack of choice? Do you have a nasty Tim Tam habit? Or an obsession for Twisties? Well, every now and then treat your taste buds to your indulgence of choice, but do it too much and your body might just start turning nasty on you!

Here are a few healthy alternatives that will keep your energy levels up and make you feel great. BEWARE…they actually taste delicious too!

  1. Rice cakes taste like cardboard on their own, but try a few of these toppings and they're instantly transformed.
    - hommus, sliced tomatoes and black pepper
    - avocado and tuna slices
    - cream cheese, cucumber and sweet chilli sauce.

  2. Low fat Mexican quesadillas will bring out the 'gringa' in you!
    - Just spread Mexican salsa and low fat cheese between two flour tortillas and chuck it in the oven for 8 minutes. Delish!

  3. Try spreading a slice of toast with bananas, then sprinkle with sunflower seeds and drizzle honey on top.

  4. Chop up some carrot and celery sticks and dump them in a Greek Tzasiki dip or hommus.

  5. If you have that constant need of hand to mouth motion when watching a good chick flick, try popcorn (unbuttered please!), flavored rice crackers, grapes, cherries or whip up your own trail mix concoction of nuts, seeds, dried pineapple and mango, a few yoghurt drops perhaps…some granola…whatever your personal taste desires!
