In addition, we have a Martial Arts expert coming along to teach you how to be safe in your envionment and what to do if someone threatens you.

So, we hope to see you there. For more info check out the link on our home page and you can register online or at pac fair's customer service desk. Alternatively, just turn up on the day.

Nicole grows up, while Lindsay needs guidance

Former 'It girls' Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan have been laying pretty low of late, which is probably a good thing. I'm sure you've all heard about their various exploits (if you've been living under a rock and haven't heard, Nicole was arrested for drink driving and Lindsay is doing a stint in rehab), but if you're curious as to what they've been up to, here's a little update…

Tips for Healthy Body Image

  1. Posture...chin up and shoulders back.
  2. Smile and be friendly.
  3. Tell yourself that you look great...and believe it!
  4. Take time to groom...hair, nails, coordinate clothes.
  5. Dress for your body type...enhance your assets and draw attention away from the bits you don't like so much!
  6. Wear tinted moisturiser and lip-gloss for a natural glow.
  7. Exercise regularly.
  8. Eat well.
  9. Don't try to be like someone else...accept yourself and feel confident in who you are.

Fashion In Full Bloom (Part One)

Everything's coming up roses for three women to whom fashion and beauty is life.

PJ Party review

Hey Girls,
We had a great night on Friday night in our pjs! The girls who attended were such great girls and got totally involved in all the activities and discussions about body image.

Great prizes and giveaways were donated by Mary-Kate and Ashley brand, Australis, Bellaboo teen skin care and Warner pictures. Girlfriend Magazine also donated the latest edition mags for our activities and the girls loved checking them out! (Just on GF...their self-respect campaign running this year is fantastic, totally relevant and really worth checking out.)

Mary Kate and Ashley brand provided the make-up for our Make-up workshop and also prizes. The colours were awesome and looked fantastic! Stay tuned for our article about these products because they are FAB!! Mary-Kate and Ashley brand also provided clothes for our "dressing for your body type" workshop. These were sensational and looked amazing on the girls. We'll have photos up soon and a full run down but you can go to www.shopmarykateandashley.com to check out the range!

The girls at the PJ party all received a sample bag of products and goodies including a nail set by Australis. These were loads of fun and looked gorgeous. We still have a few to give away so sign up to What A Girl Needs (don't forget your postal address if you want to receive prizes!) and you'll be in the draw for some of these great packs! (We'll be writing a review on these nails in the next few weeks too...so keep your eye on www.whatagirlneeds.com.au .)

Each girl also recieved her own sample wallet of the Bellaboo skin care range. This is a great natural product especially developed for teen skin. We have an article already up for you to check out and have a look at the website: www.bellaboobabe.com .

Warner Pictures donated some Nancy Drew packs and you are in luck because we still have several to give away! So sign up to www.whatagirlneeds.com.au , create your own account, don't forget your postal address, and who knows...you may be the winner of a Nancy Drew movie pack!

Finally, I really want to thank my WAGN crew. They are amazing girls and really put heaps of effort in to making the PJ party a great night. These girls are always working hard to get you great info so that you can be the best YOU can be and SHINE!!!!

Have a great day girls! Be inspired! Remember you are beautiful and have so much to offer the world!!!

February Project: Valentine's Day Special Project

In your project book, put a photograph of yourself in the middle of the page.

Surround your photo with all of the things you like about yourself including both physical attributes and personality attributes. You might include things like: great smile that makes others happy, arms to hug my family, good at listening to others, nice teeth, a good planner, funny, good at sport, helpful, honest, loyal, etc. Draw red hearts around each attribute to give a valentine's day feel to the page and to express that you LOVE who you are!

Remember we need to love ourselves for who we are and forget about pretending to be someone we are not!

Emotional Abuse

Recently, I've been made aware of young girls who have fallen in love with guys who seem to be fabulous and amazing…yet over time these "lovely" guys have gradually become controlling, aggressive and manipulative.

November Project: My Achievements

So often we get to a point when we see the end of the year coming closer and closer, faster and faster. We start to panic about all the things we said we would do before the end of the year and haven't! When the realisation sets in that perhaps you won't get all those things done and you're feeling unaccomplished, guilty, or both… turn it around! What's the point in wallowing in self-defeat?

It's time to start your new November project entitled, 'What I have accomplished this year." Focusing on the positive will help lift you up and feel proud.

my achievements; 2006!
Now, forget about making a list…because if your list looks a little, well, short… you may slip right back into that negative head space again! So grab a piece of cardboard or cut a manila folder in half. Make a collage of pictures and words. Stick on photos of you doing an activity for the first time or cut out pictures which represent something you accomplished or finished this year. Write words in big letters that express how you felt when you did 'that thing'.

Remember the things you include don't have to be Nobel-prize winning efforts either. It may be that you re-established contact with an old friend, baby-sat a little brother, spent time with your Mum, took up jogging, made a conscious effort to eat healthily or even saved a little money. These are all worth-while achievements you can be proud of. So, get 'cutting' and 'pasting' and create your way to ending another successful year feeling great about yourself!!
